If your child is age 12 months to 2.5 years old, they will love exploring our sensory art stations and our engaging music curriculum!
A Typical Toddle Around Class
Our sensory art and music classes for kids are held in an age-appropriate setting. Toddle Around Class, for toddlers aged 12 months – 2.5 years, includes teacher-directed free play to allow all children to learn in their own way, as well as our engaging music curriculum. Children are encouraged to explore and move around, and all sensory and music options change from week to week!
- Each class starts with giving the children options to explore with different sensory art stations.
- About halfway through the class it turns into a music class with our Kids at Work musicians.

How do you keep my toddler engaged in class?
Our standard sensory art and music class for toddlers include teacher-directed free play to allow all children to learn in their own way, as well as our engaging music curriculum. There are always alternative options available for children who choose to “go their own way.”
What type of sensory art is made?
Kids at Work engages a “process-based” curriculum, with the focus being on discovery and exploration rather than producing something. Children will be introduced to materials like paint, ink, clay, and multimedia and use a variety of tools. Our curriculum also includes gross and fine motor development through movement and art. Our sensory art curriculum changes each week so returning children get the opportunity to continuously try new things!
What kind of music making happens in this class?
Kids at Work music is ALWAYS led by a professional singer-guitarist! Music time at KAW is not a performance, and teachers engage all participants to sing, play, and move along. Our singers are never amplified and participation is strongly encouraged and devices are asked to be put away during class. Musical examples may include movement, songs with and without guitar, and our huge collection of child friendly instruments so your child can jam along. Music is “off the beaten path” and contains examples designed to expose children to musical concepts such as “high and low”, “slow and fast”, dynamics, pitch, and tempo. My child is a wiggle worm – will this be a distraction in class?
No! Being active and playful is normal for toddlers. We encourage children to follow their interests and move as they need to. Sitting is never required or expected of this age group!
Do I need to be present for class?
Yes. Kids at Work does not offer drop-off of any kind in its main location.
